What is the Gospel?
Dan Long 9/03/12

"What is the Gospel?" was originally one of our blog pages. The video was deleted from YouTube by mistake and so we had to pull the page. In the original video, the passage I preached from was Galatians 1:1-9. Paul gives a solemn warning when he says: Gal 1:8  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

First we looked at what the Gospel is not, then answered the question "What is the Gospel?"  In this post I have given part of the original outline to the message, and then posted the second part of the message in the video. This video was taken recorded at Capital City Rescue Mission by Donna Hanson. The band 4ever1 is also in the video.

I. Not a gospel of law.
   A. The Law has no power to save.
        1. Because it demands perfect obedience: James 2:10; Deu. 27:26; Gal. 3:10

            a. The Law says "you shall not lie."
            b. The Law says "you shall not steal."
            c. The Law says "you shall not commit adultery." Jesus raised the bar higher in Mat. 5:27-28.
            d. The Law says "you shall not murder." And yet John says: 1Jo. 3:15.
            e. The Law says, "do not covet."
    B. The Law is like a mirror, revealing our sin; Ro. 5:20; Gal. 3:19
II. The gospel is not a gospel of works.
This is where the video will take over.
