7 Ways Jesus Condemned Gay “Marriage”

Matthew 19:4-6 " He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.""

One of the arguments for those in support of gay "marriage," especially among those who claim to be gay and Christian, is the silence of Jesus on gay "marriage" and homosexuality.

However, just because Jesus never mentioned gay "marriage" doesn't mean that what He said about Biblical marriage doesn't condemn gay it.

In Matthew 19 Jesus is being tested by the Pharisees about divorce, asking Him if it was "lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?" The answer He gives not only condemns divorce, but also condemns any view of marriage outside of God’s original design.

Here are seven ways His answer to the Pharisees condemned gay "marriage."

1. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by pointing to the Scriptures about God’s only design for marriage- "Have you not read"

It is the Scriptures that define what marriage is. Jesus pointed to the Scriptures to answer the Pharisees, making it clear that Scripture itself was His final authority.

You will not find anything positive ever being said about homosexuality anywhere in the Scriptures.

2. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by pointing to God’s original and only plan for marriage- "from the beginning"

God never designed marriage to be between two persons of the same sex. His plan "from the beginning" was, and is, only between a man and a woman.

3. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by pointing to God’s original and only design- "male and female,"

The very fact that Jesus mentions "male and female," and only "male and female," shows that God never intended for marriage to be otherwise.

4. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by defining the structure of family and marriage- "father and mother," "hold fast to his wife"

The Biblical definition of a family unit is father and mother, husband and wife. Outside of this definition, the family unit does not exist. Even if much of society accepts gay couples with adopted children as "family," the Biblical definition does not. It is God who defines what a family is, not society.

5. Jesus condemned gay "marriage by pointing to the sacred Union of marriage- "and the two shall become one flesh," "they are no longer two"

Marriage is holy. And it is holy because God Himself is the One who established it. Nowhere in Scripture does it ever imply a redefinition of this sacred union. The "two that become "one" can only be man and woman since they compliment each other.

This union would also imply sexual union, since God designed the male and female body to fit together. Two people of the same sex cannot have this union since the parts don’t fit.

6. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by warning against the desecration of marriage- "What therefore God has joined together," let not man separate"

Although this is specifically speaking of divorce, there is an implication here. God Himself is the One who established the covenant of marriage. Therefore, "man" has no right to redifine what marriage is. Those who do this are in direct opposition with the God who designed the marriage covenant.

7. Jesus condemned gay "marriage" by never referring to it.

The argument goes like this: "Since Jesus never even mentioned homosexuality you have no right to use Him in your arguments against it."

The problem for the homosexual is that Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. Weren't there homosexuals in His day that wanted what homosexuals want in our day, just to be accepted? Since people are supposedly born gay shouldn't Jesus have addressed the issue? Shouldn't He have stood up for the rights of gay people who were obviously treated worse than they are today? And yet He said nothing. Since "sexual orientation is from birth" homosexuals are born the way they are right? And yet nowhere does Jesus even mention it.

Does Love Bake the Cake?

I saw a tweet last week that really showed me the shallow knowledge many "Christians" have when it comes to the biblical view of love. The church has become inundated with a worldly view of love, a love that accepts everyone without question, even when those they accept are involved in unbiblical practices such as homosexuality. This was the tweet:
EMBRACE THE BIBLICAL TRUTH THAT LOVE GIVES TO ALL WHO ASKS. IT BAKES THE CAKES, IT TAKES THE PHOTOS, AND YES- IT EVEN GOES TO THE WEDDING.
What is the presupposition behind this tweet? "Homosexuals are who they are because God made them this way, and in order to be loving we need to embrace them and accept them for who they are." However, this is an unbiblical view of love. I propose that love would not give to all who ask. Love would not bake the cake. Love would not take the photos. And love would not go to the wedding. Endorsing the homosexual lifestyle is not the biblical view of love. It's the opposite. Here's why.
To give credence to something that the Bible calls evil leads a person down a path of destruction. And for a Christian to embrace and promote a person in willful rebellion against God will ultimately lead that person to hell. True biblical love promotes truth not sin. True biblical love cares enough about the person caught in sin to tell them their need of repentance. True biblical love exposes sin because it genuinely cares about people's souls.

Love Does Not Celebrate Evil

1 Corinthians 13:6 it (love) does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
Homosexuality is "wrongdoing." The Bible makes this clear- 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Since homosexuality is wrong doing, it is unloving for the Christian to embrace those caught in it, even if involved claim to be Christians.

Love Does Not Give To All Who Ask

Before we even look a what the Bible says about this, let's think about the statement from a parent/child aspect. Is it love to give something harmful to my child, even if he begs me for it? If I know it has potential to bring him harm I'm not going to give it to him no matter how much he wants it. Giving him something harmful him is unloving.
Homosexuality is harmful. It can cause physical and emotional trauma. This is because God has not designed the male body for male to male sex, or the female body for female to female sex. The female body was designed for male sex and vice versa. Here are some health risks of the homosexual lifestyle.
Promiscuity
Excessive sexual promiscuity results in serious medical consequences — indeed, it is a recipe for transmitting disease and generating an epidemic.11 The HIV/AIDS epidemic has remained a predominantly gay issue in the U.S. primarily because of the greater degree of promiscuity among gays.12 A study based upon statistics from 1986 through 1990 estimated that 20-year-old gay men had a 50 percent chance of becoming HIV positive by age 55.13 As of June 2001, nearly 64 percent of men with AIDS were men who have had sex with men.14 Syphilis is also more common among gay men. The San Francisco Public Health Department recently reported that syphilis among the city’s gay and bisexual men was at epidemic levels. According to the San Francisco Chronicle:
Physical health problems
Common sexual practices among gay men lead to numerous STDs and physical injuries, some of which are virtually unknown in the heterosexual population. Lesbians are also at higher risk for STDs. In addition to diseases that may be transmitted during lesbian sex, a study at an Australian STD clinic found that lesbians were three to four times more likely than heterosexual women to have sex with men who were high-risk for HIV.
Mental health problems
It is well established that there are high rates of psychiatric illnesses, including depression, drug abuse, and suicide attempts, among gays and lesbians. This is true even in the Netherlands, where gay, lesbian and bisexual (GLB) relationships are far more socially acceptable than in the U.S. Depression and drug abuse are strongly associated with risky sexual practices that lead to serious medical problems.
Life span
The only epidemiological study to date on the life span of gay men concluded that gay and bisexual men lose up to 20 years of life expectancy.
Monogamy
Monogamy, meaning long-term sexual fidelity, is rare in GLB relationships, particularly among gay men. One study reported that 66 percent of gay couples reported sex outside the relationship within the first year, and nearly 90 percent if the relationship lasted five years.

Does the Bible really say "love gives to all who ask?"

James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James is talking about prayer in this verse. He says that there are prayers that go unanswered. Why? Because those asking for things to spend on their passions. God does not give to them, because they are asking for things that will harm them. Not only that, but they are sinning by asking. God will not answer those kinds of prayers.
Psalms 18:41 They cried for help, but there was none to save; they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
We see here that God did not answer the prayers of David's enemies, even when they cried out to Him.
Micah 3:4 Then they will cry to the Lord, but he will not answer them;he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil.
Why is God hiding his face and refusing to answer the people of Israel? Because their deeds were evil. Since homosexuality is condemned by God it is evil. Love does not give to all who ask.

Love would not bake the cake, take the photos, and no, it would not go to the wedding

Contrary to what Mega Church Pastor Andy Stanley said Jesus would not have baked the cake.
Jesus promoted the biblical view of marriage, then He commanded that this God ordained union (a union only between a man and a woman) not be separated. Mark 10:7-10 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
Notice first the word "wife." The Greek word for "wife" is gyne and it means- woman; wife; a betrothed woman. Second notice that "the two (man and woman) shall become one flesh." This is does not, and cannot take place between two males or two females. Third, the biblical view of marriage was ordained by God who commanded that "man not separate." Although this is primarily referring to divorce, an argument could be made for the command not redefine the God ordained view of marriage.
Jesus would have never been involved in something that violates God’s Law. Nor would He ever have endorsed a practice that harms other people. Some would say, "But didn't Jesus hang out with sinners? Didn't He eat at their houses, and even say that He came for them?" The answer is yes. But if you look at each incident in the Gospels where Jesus "hung out" with sinners such as prostitutes and tax collectors, He never endorsed or promoted their sin. As a matter of fact, He called them to repentance (John 4:16-18; Luke 19:8-10).
Christ loved sinners. And since Christ loved them, so should we. However, Jesus never endorsed or promoted their sin. He lovingly called them to repentance because He loved their souls. Therefore love does no harm to another person, but seeks what is best for them. This is why it would be unloving to "bake the cake, take the photos, and yes- even go to the wedding."

Links to Last Night's Podcast

Here is the YouTube trailer of the upcoming documentary "Such Were Some Of You." I played this at the opening of the podcast.

I started the podcast out by reading a post by a former homosexual. This man was delivered from the sin of homosexuality by God's amazing grace and mercy. He has been straight now for 34 years. In this post he gives his testimony about the guilt and shame he experienced during his previous lifestyle. You can find the post here.

Finally we went through the Sodom and Gomorrah story found in Genesis 19 and saw that God destroyed the two cities for the sin of homosexuality.

Genesis 19:1-29 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth and said, "My lords, please turn aside to your servant's house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way." They said, "No; we will spend the night in the town square." But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, and said, "I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof." But they said, "Stand back!" And they said, "This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them." Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down. But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door. Then the men said to Lot, "Have you anyone else here? Sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone you have in the city, bring them out of the place. For we are about to destroy this place, because the outcry against its people has become great before the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it." So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, "Up! Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city." But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting. As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, "Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city." But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. And as they brought them out, one said, "Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away." And Lot said to them, "Oh, no, my lords. Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. Behold, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there—is it not a little one?—and my life will be saved!" He said to him, "Behold, I grant you this favor also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. God Destroys Sodom The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar. Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven. And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. But Lot's wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the Lord. And he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the valley, and he looked and, behold, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace. So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.

7 Reasons Why God Does Not Accept the Homosexual Lifestyle

Before I state the reasons let me start by saying that real Christians struggle with the sin of homosexuality. The key word is struggle. They fight against sinful desires in order to obey their Savior. Christians fight sin. Whether it is lust, drunkenness, slander, gossip, laziness, pride, or homosexuality the Christian must fight the evil desires that still reside within, even after being regenerated by the Spirit of God. So in this post I'm not saying their aren't genuine born again Believers who struggle with same sex attraction. That being said, the Bible is clear about it’s position on homosexuality. Here are seven reasons why God does not accept the homosexual lifestyle. Again the key word in the last sentence being "lifestyle."

1.God created man and woman
I know this may sound simplistic but creation itself testifies against homosexuality. God did not create another man for Adam. He created a woman. The command that God gave both the man and woman was to be fruitful and multiply and to fill the earth and subdue it:
Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
Two men or two woman cannot multiply. The parts don't fit. God did not design the male body with the capacity to join with another male body in the proper way. The woman was designed for the man, and the man for the woman.

2.God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the sin of homosexuality
"Gay Christian" advocates will say that God destroyed Sodom for being inhospitable to others as well as not aiding the poor. They get this from from Ezekiel 16:49.
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom:she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.
Now certainly these were grievous sins. But what "Gay Christians" do not quote is the next verse:
Ezekiel 16:50 They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.
The Hebrew word for "abomination" is to‘eba. It's the same word used in Leviticus 18:22 where God calls the sin of homosexuality an abomination- to‘eba: Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination-to‘eba.

3.God destroyed the surrounding nations for sins such as homosexuality
The nation of Israel was commanded to drive out and destroy the inhabitants of the land of Canaan for such sins as, human sacrifice, bestiality, and homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22-24 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it:it is perversion. "Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean,
Notice homosexuality is one of the abominations for which God is driving out the surrounding nations and giving them to Israel.

4.Jesus only recognized marriage between a man and a woman
Mark 10:6-9 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female. ’ ‘ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. ’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
Notice what Christ says- "from the beginning God made them male and female." There was never any intention on the part of God for a male to be with a male or a female with a female. He also said that "the two shall become one flesh." Marriage is a covenant relationship between a man and a woman. This is something "God has joined together" and His command is "let not man separate." Gay marriage destroys the covenantal relationship of marriage.

5.Jesus never mentioned the homosexual lifestyle.
This is the common objection by the homosexual. The argument goes like this: "Since Jesus never even mentioned homosexuality you have no right to use Him in your arguments against it." The problem for the homosexual is that Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. Which brings us to the next reason.

6.Nothing positive is ever said about homosexuality in the Bible
Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Romans 1:26-27 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Notice the phrase "and such were some of you." Why would Paul say this if "men who practice homosexuality" were not in sin? "Were" is past tense. These are people who were saved out of the sins listed in this passage which includes homosexuality.
1 Timothy 1:9-10 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,
Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

7. Homosexuality undermines the gospel
How can those in the Church who accept the gay lifestyle as normative preach the gospel to homosexuals, or anyone for that matter, without destroying the gospel? In order to preach the gospel correctly, the way Jesus intended it to be preached, you must preach repentance!
Luke 24:44-47 Then he said to them, " These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, " Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
How can the Gospel be presented without repentance? It can't. The Gospel apart from repentance is a false gospel. Accepting and affirming the gay lifestyle is cruel and unloving. It leaves a person in their sin and will ultimately condemn them to hell.

The Gay Burger: A Celebration of Evil

Someone on Facebook shared this link yesterday. I was skeptical when I first saw it, but googled it and found other websites affirming its validity.

The Proud Whopper

Yep it's true. Burger King has decided to join the gay bandwagon and celebrate homosexuality by adding the "Proud Whopper to their menu. I can't say I'm not surprised because I was. I guess I shouldn't have been since it's just a matter of time before stuff like this will be going on everywhere. Now, some might say, "It was only sold at the Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco." But I'm telling you this is only the beginning. In my opinion Burger King has opened the door for other restaurants and businesses to act in similar ways.

Celebrating Sin

Folks, this is nothing more than a celebration of sin, what the Bible calls calling good evil and evil good-

Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!

Isaiah is pronouncing judgement on the nation of Israel for their idolatry. The word "woe" here is an oracle of judgement. Whenever an Old Testament prophet would pronounce judgement on a nation he would use this oracle of woe.

Judgement is coming

Judgement is promised for those who celebrate sin. This is what the "homosexual community" and those outside who embrace it are doing. When even those inside the church can call themselves "Christians" and yet at the same time live a gay lifestyle, all the while claiming that the lifestyle is blessed by God, the only thing that remains for our nation is judgement.
